Award winning Technology at Tortuga Beach

IVC Media are one of our key partners and are responsible for the IT systems and services at Tortuga Beach. This includes high-speed internet access, multi-channel HD TV, video-on-demand, telephony, fire detection, door entry systems and CCTV, all of which are controlled by a remotely monitored, centralised management system.

This is highly state of the art and has now been recognised in the industry as the best IT Integration Project at this year’s prestigious AV Awards held at the Hilton on Park Lane in central London.

The award was won based on the quality of installation but also the fact that the services installed make the resort “future proof” thanks to the very latest fibre-optic technology. This not only demonstrates the quality of Tortuga Beach, but also shows our total commitment to a successful and long term future for Cape Verde investment.

Passenger traffic at Cape Verde’s airports and aerodromes rose 11.2 percent year on year in 2011, from 1.6 million to 1.78 million, the country’s airport management company, Empresa Nacional de Aeroportos e Segurança (Asa) said in Praia. According to the published figures, international traffic rose by 20.8 percent whilst domestic traffic rose by 2.8 percent.

This highlights the increasing number of visitors to the islands and the ongoing trend of increased tourism.

Further good news from the Islands comes from figures published by HomeAway.co.uk, a holiday rentals company. They have revealed that Cape Verde entered its list of the top ten most popular holiday destinations for the first time in 2011, which is expected to further enhance the reputation of the islands for property investment.

According to the firm, an increase in the number of charter flights to Cape Verde, as well as a growing market for package holidays, have helped boost its tourism industry.

Regional director for HomeAway UK Andy Cockburn explained these factors could all result in more investors buying real estate in Cape Verde, as well as other hotspots like Dubai and Florida.

"For those looking for an alternative to Europe for property investment, these mid to long-haul markets provide good opportunities. Not only can properties at attractive prices still be found, but they have strong rental potential too," he stated.

Environ Signing

TRG fully committed to developing environmentally friendly resorts"

10th May 2012

The Resort Group has confirmed its commitment to ensuring all of its resorts are developed in line with the most strident and government backed environmental guidelines.

This was officially confirmed by the signing of a Declaration of Environmental Commitment in Sal, Cape Verde. This is an agreement with the Directorate General of Environment (DGA), the environmental agency of the Cape Verdean Government, and is designed to ensure eco friendly, socially responsible and fully sustainable tourism in the country for the years ahead.

This was the first ever agreement of its kind on the Islands and was attended by a host of high ranking dignitaries and officials, including Director General of the DGA Mr. Moises Borges, as well as the Environmental Minister Mr Antero Veiga.

This is a hugely significant commitment being made by The Resort Group, as it not only safeguards the Islands against any potential environmental damage but it also ensures best environmental practices are adopted at all resorts by The Resort Group, which in turn can deliver energy savings and cost efficiencies.

Above all, it will help showcase Cape Verde as an eco friendly holiday destination, which is becoming increasingly important in the global tourism market further enhancing the ongoing trend of increasing tourism.

This significant and prestigious event was covered by all Cape Verde media, as well as TV and press from across Europe and Africa
